Wixams and Meir Stations – Fire Assurance

Network Rail appointed EFA Engineering to provide Fire Assurance and support with a specialist technical advisor for Wixams and Meir Train Stations.

A key contributor to the fire engineering review of proposed fire strategies for Wixams and Meir train stations, the role focused on ensuring compliance with current fire safety standards and best practice.

This included detailed evaluation of submitted design fire strategies and facilitating structured discussions with stakeholders, architects, design consultants, and client representatives to resolve review comments. Formal meetings with fire and rescue services were held to align proposals with operational requirements.

For Wixams, advanced radiation calculations justifying escape route safety within the station concourse were rigorously assessed against fire scenarios to confirm occupant tenability and compliance with evacuation performance criteria.
